As over six hundred people from the Gaza flotilla were being evacuated from Israel to Turkey (2.6.10), the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) said it had been pushing for safe conduct of several media workers in that group.

A crisis in media and the future for democracy has been brought on by news media organisations retrenching, as their business models fail; according to Aidan White, General Secretary of the International Federation of Journalists – who attended this year’s UNESCO World Press Freedom Day congress (3.5.10), in Brisbane, Australia.
