Cricket Ashes win 2013England came very close to a 4-0 series win for the first time in history against Australia, on Sunday, going to the brink of a victory when bad light closed down play.

The match was drawn; the second draw in the five-test series.

The Australian cricket team that began the series in lackluster form put in some disciplined bowling attacks, and eventually settled on a top order batting line-up for the new test series beginning in Brisbane on 21.11.13.

At the Oval, London, on Sunday, Australia declared its second innings closed on the final day, to give itself, and England, the chance of a win; setting a target for England, mostly called “generous” at 227.

The umpires extended play into the Summer twilight, and England batted strongly, but they had to call it off after consulting the light meter at 7:36 pm; England needing 21 runs in the remaining four overs.

Australia had twice made the running in the series, declaring its innings closed for a run chase, with rain stopping play for a time, a factor in forcing a draw both times.
