An economist working at the European Union office in Port Moresby was bitten by a large tiger shark while kite surfing off-shore near the city on Sunday.
Thomas Viot, 30, was airlifted to Brisbane for surgery on a lacerated leg.
He said that during two and a half years in Papua New Guinea he had seen several sharks and suffered an attack from a stingray.
While he had lost a lot of blood in the last incident, he’d still be going back to kite surfing after getting better.
