england-cricket-team-2011.jpegTwo victories of note from the weekend’s sports: England takes the Number One spot in Cricket, after a long absence from the very top; and Australia’s Casey Stoner looks very secure in his lead, in the MotoGP.

england-cricket-badge.jpegThe England team have earned plaudits from all sides after their demolition of the former Number One incumbents, India, in their third Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham, 13.8.11.
They declared on 710-7 in reply to India’s first-innings 224 all out; ending  the match with an edge of 242 runs.

The team now excelling at the crease, in bowling, and fieldsmanship, with plenty of talent in reserve, reiterated their claim to best Test cricket team, in a reminder of their rout of Australia, in the 2010 Australia n Test series nearly a year ago.

Such domination by the country that started it all has not been seen since the middle part of the last century.

India are down 3-0, with one test to come in the current series, at The Oval this Thursday, 18.8.11.
