Cadel Evans, wrapped in the flag, and the winner’s yellow jersey, claimed victory on the Champs Elysees, 24.7.11, in the 2011 Tour de France.
It sounded like a popular win; to many cheers he said, in French and English, “thank you to all; it has been an incredible experience”.
 The 34 year-old originally from the Northern Territory, a specialist mountain rider, had a long and patient campaign, following on from second-placings in the event, in 2007-08.
