SPORTS: Casey Stoner’s Hat-trick

Australian Casey Stoner on Monday chalked up his third win in a row, to get to the front in this year’s MotoGP championship.

He’d been trailing after getting a third place, and a crash, when he won at Le Mans on 16.5.11. (See EUAustralia Online, “One Queen, a ‘ladies’ man’ and a motorbike rider”, 18.6.11).

He won again at Barcelona on 6.6.11, and then at Silverstone, in England this week; overcoming bad weather conditions that saw several riders crash, including the former competition leader, Jorge Lorenzo.

Leading points in the motorcycle championship series now:

Casey Stoner (Honda, Australia) 116; Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha, Spain) 98; Andrea Dovizioso (Honda, Italy) 83.
