Australian Soldier’s Death In Afghanistan

funeral-scott-palmer.jpgOne Australian soldier has been killed and one wounded (10.7.10) in another explosion of a roadside bomb (an Improvised Explosive Device – IED), in Afghanistan’s Uruzgan province. It happened on the day of another soldier’s memeorial service in Darwin.

The death of Private Nathan Bewes, from Kogarah in Sydney, brings to 17 the number of Australians killed in Afghanistan, as part of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force.

Private Bewes part of the Sixth battalion (6RAR), with the Mentoring Task Force engaged in the preparation of an Afghan Army Brigade.

His death coincided with the funeral at Darwin (picture) of Private Scott Palmer, one of three commandos killed on operations, in a helicopter crash, on 21.6.10.

The others were Pte. Timothy Aplin and Pte. Benjamin Chuck.
