Samantha Stosur is looking towards one more great challenge — her win over Justine Henin has put her into the final eight, in the French Open tennis, for the second year in a row – going on to a quarter-final this time against the top-seeded Serena Williams (USA) (2.6.10).
The number seven seed from the Queensland Gold Coast lost the first set to the Belgian champion who’d been unbeaten in Paris since 2004, but recovered to win 2-6, 6-1, 6-4, on Monday (31.5.10).
Australia’s other stayer in the late stages of competition, Jarmila Groth, was eliminated by Kazakhstan’s Yaroslava Shvedova, 6-4, 6-3.
