The Matildas have qualified for the World Cup in Germany next year, after their one-nil win over Japan, in Chengdu, China on Thursday (27.5.10).
That win also set up the Australians for the Asian Cup final this Sunday, at Chengdu, against Korea DPR. (Action pictures, see FIFA, http://www.fifa.com/search/index.htmx?q=Asian+Cup+women – 28.5.10).
The World Cup tournament takes place from 26.6/ 7.7.11.
Meanwhile in the men’s World Cup, about to kick off in South Africa, the Socceroos have set themselves up in Johannesburg as the first international arrivals in the country, for some altitude training — before warm-ups against Denmark and the United States next week.
