Australian professional rider and Tour de France hope Robbie McEwen is expected to miss that major cycling event this July after a bad fall (27.5.09), during a road race in Belgium.
His team managers are quoted as saying that he’s had surgery to one leg after bumping something on the roadside and coming down hard — and they’ve expressed some concern for his long-term future in competition.
The sprint specialist, now 36, has won the Tour de France green jersey for sprints on three occasions, and won this year’s Down Under Classic.
