Two Spanish Mirage F1 warplanes crashed during a training exercise in Spain’s southeastern province of Albacate on Tuesday (20.01.09), killing all three crew members.

The cause of the crash is not yet clear and is under investigation according to a Defence ministry spokesperson.

Wreckage of the planes was found, three kilometres apart, along with the pilots’ bodies.

One jet was carrying a crew of two; the other had a single pilot.

The last accident involving a Spanish Mirage F1 was in March 2006.
