The parents of Britt Lapthorne, the Australian backpacker found dead near Dubrovnik, in Croatia, last October, returned to the scene of her disappearance during the Christmas holiday period.
They received word that a second post mortem, this time conducted in Australia, had failed to establish the cause of her death.
Her father, Dale Lapthorne, told Radio Australia he understood injuries on the body were found to be “not consistent with falling off a cliff†and there was still “no plausible evidence of an accident.â€
He had spoken also with Croatian police, saying the investigation into his daughter’s death was continuing and processes had improved.
Britt Lapthorne was last seen alive at a nightclub in Dubrovnik; her body was found in the nearby Bay of Boninovo, leading to suggestions it had been thrown into the sea from cliff-tops. See EUAustralia, “Britt Lapthorne Update …†17.10.08; “DNA Tests Confirm … 16.10.08).
