british-flag.jpgAustralia has lost out to Spain when it comes to the ‘Happiest’ destination for British expats…
Well… it seems the Brits are happiest in Spain according to a new survey by global foreign exchange provider OzForex and leading expat website BritishExpats.com

Australia didn’t even score a silver or bronze to Spain, instead lagging behind in fourth place in terms of how happy the expats are in their new country.

Spain had 91.3 per cent of respondents say they are happy in the country, while only 84.2 per cent British expats who moved to Australia were happy.

Not exactly whingeing , but …
New Zealand and Canada claimed second and third place.

There is some encouragement for hopitable Aussies, with almost 40% of British expats voting Australia their number one choice of destination.

The closest other contender for that honour was the United States, at 17.6 percent.

Australia currently houses the largest expat community from Britain, with approximately 1.3 million UK persons living on Aussie soil.

OzForex Founder and Joint Managing Director, Matthew Gilmour said OzForex is not surprised that Australia was named the most popular destination.

“We know that Australia offers expats a high standard of living and an amazing life style with the strong economy, favourable weather, clean beaches, world-class cuisine and vibrant night life,” he said.

“However, given UK expats expressed being happiest in Spain, Australia should also not rest on its laurels.”
