The government of the Ukraine and the European Union have signed an agreement to step up co-operation on agricultural production and trade.
The Memorandum of Understanding will complement co-operation between the EU and Central European countries, under its European Neighbourhood Policy.
It clears the way for regular contracts on trade standards and international production.
The agreement was signed at Brussels (19.10.06) by Ukraine’s Agricultural Policy Minister, Yuriy Melnyk, and the European Commissioner for Agriculture, Mariann Fischer Boel, who said: “Ukraine as a … major producer of agricultural products can benefit from our experience in setting up and implementing agricultural and rural development policies”.
