The Australian government has taken over ownership of a former British amphibious warfare ship, Largs Bay, as first replacement for the flotilla of support vessels now passing out of service.
The ship is to be re-named HMAS Choules, in honour of the late, former Chief Petty Officer Claude Choules, who died in Perth last May, at 110 – thought to have been the last survivor of World War 1. … Read More »

The Greenpeace organisation i n Europe has issued a rejoinder to urgent moves by the European Union to conserve stocks of fish, saying it needs to target large-scale industrial fishing first, and implement much tougher quotas.
It describes the European fleet as a major offender in over-fishing, well beyond its home waters.
