Michael Schumacher remains in coma

Michael Schumacher RESIZEThe racing driver Michael Schumacher was reported in a stable condition, in hospital at Grenoble in France, following his ski-ing accident on Sunday.

The seven-times Grand Prix winner of the early 2000s, mostly with Ferrari, fell while ski-ing off-piste, striking his head.

Though wearing a helmet he suffered from swelling and pressure inside his brain cavity, requiring an induced coma and then neuro surgery.

A German citizen, 44, he has been listed as critically ill.

In 2014, another racing identity, Australian Mark Webber, 37, will be driving in sports car events, having declared his retirement from Formula One competition last year.

In Formula One since 2000 he won nine races and was three times in third place overall.
