carla-bruni-2.jpgNicolas Sarkozy is being called “President Bling-Bling” in French media, and facing criticism over his trip this week to Egypt with his girlfriend — the singer and former model Carla Bruni.

The recently-divorced French President was openly out and about with Ms Bruni in the resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh (27.12.07), amid caustic comments about his “ostentatious” behaviour from several critics – including Segolene Royal, Mr Sarkozy’s Socialist Party opponent in last year’s Presidential election.
